Silas {again}

If you are getting bored with my Silas posts you can move past them. I am so happy though! He's stood the test of time, and even survived the inevitable neuter surgery and he is officially listed as needing a home! So if you live in the twin cities area and you have been looking for a kitty for a really long time you should visit Golden Valley's Humane Society. He's a very active cute boy cat and has a loving personality, grooms on his own, and uses a litter box without any problem! All of his animal details are {here}

Now you don't want this cute face to go without a home do you?!!

Now off to study pathophysiology because that's what first semester nursing students get to do everyday!
Happy Thursday everyone :) It's almost the weekend!

I really love this kitty! {Silas}

I know that when you rescue animals you shouldn't become attached, because then if you turn them into the humane society and something is wrong with the little bundle unfortunately they have to put them down. Generally I agree with this policy, we don't need millions of cats reproducing that are sick, unwell, threatening to be adopted and hurt more cats or even possibly humans. So a little over a week ago I blogged {here} about my family's love for cats and our attempt to periodically rescue them and bring them to a safe place. While since our own cat thinks she's queen {visit Meiko here} of the house we would never be able to be a multiple cat home. Back to the story, so we brought Silas in and named him Silas, I was really excited when last night he moved from "stray" to adoptable on the Humane Society's website for some reason he still has a link that works {here} from when he was listed as stray. Well my brother and my mother went to visit and he was not able to be found, I was devastated, he wasn't even listed online anymore so I feared the worst. Because of my personality I decided to call and inquire of this cute kitten and act as a prospective home, I was pleased to hear that he wasn't handling the surgery of getting neutered well but that once he recovers and shows signs he will be put back on the adoption floor! Praise the Lord. I was happy, I just have a spot for little Silas now in my heart and really hope he can find a loving home. So here's to breaking the rules (just a little bit!) and asking the right questions. So please! If you want a loving, male cat, that would like to live in a single-cat-home please keep checking the website for him his name is Silas! Super friendly, uses the litter box without any problem and purrs when you give him some love'n. Enjoy the photos of this sweet thing :] I would adopt him but unfortunately as I mentioned earlier my kitty is queen at one house and during the school year my dorms don't suit cats very well.

Still no sign of his friend {also a male cat, except black} "Tickle" {mentioned here}, I really hope he's surviving alright that cold and crazy world can be really scary too!

Week One {Complete}

Oh where to begin! I don't know. Sunday afternoon I moved into Rauenhorst Hall into a suite with one girl I knew really well {life-long} knew really well, and one acquaintance from swim team, and another who I knew very little. In 6 days I feel the blessing of my housing situation overcome me, as well as an answer to my prayers along with many others. I thank God for my housing so far, and pray that it will continue to be as good as it's been so far!

But lets back up a little bit...
My parents and my family home is in the city of Minneapolis where unfortunately stray cats seem to be pretty normal. Well, we're a cat family and found two cats that we became really attached to. One named Tickle (name chosen by our 4 year old neighbor friend) and the other we chose to be Silas (a name of a recent child born at our church, we liked it a lot so I thought it would be suitable). Tickle is a stray black male cat still has meat on his bones whereas Silas on the other hand a stray orange male cat was quite skinny and young. We have been trying to collect them to bring them to the Animal Humane Society near our home but it wasn't until last weekend we were able to coax Silas into our home. Prior to me moving back to campus we had to make the tough decision not keep him and bring him in to the humane society due to our own cat being very upset and feisty that another cat heaven forbid took up her precious front porch space. How it works at the Humane Society is that a stray cat is brought in and posted online for 5-days in order to see if anyone wants to claim the cat and if it is considered "adoptable" it will be brought up to the adoption floor and if not it will be put to sleep. Silas still has not been put online as "adoptable" and today is the 5th day so I am starting to get a little sadness in my heart that he won't be able to even get a chance to get a happy home, though on the other hand the reasons that make him not adoptable are really legitimate reasons as well. You can see Silas {here} and as you can tell from the photos below he really has improved even in the 5 days he's been there so I'm trying to remain hopeful. He can use a litter box, was really playful with us, as well as groomed himself. Someday if I ever had money I would open a no-kill humane society for cats (because I'm partial to them) until then I guess we have to be a little more rational.

Tickle we haven't seen again since we took Silas away, they were buddies, so I kinda feel bad for him too...hopefully we can help him out soon. He wasn't as enthused when we brought him to our house the first time. Hopefully he's okay in this crazy big world!
Say Hello to Tickle
I just really hope that this little guy can find a loving home and be taken care of and loved; I know that not everyone can afford to have an animal or keep them, but he really didn't seem sick or not "trained" as a cat.
Say Hello to Silas

I wish everyone a good weekend, I might post a bit with the little extra time I do have to update about nursing school. I think my way of doing things is to take it one step at a time, and not worry about tomorrow because tomorrow will have worries of its own.

But as one of my professors said today, you got through the first week!
