Spring is the Season {for TOMS}

So, here's the truth there are a few things in my life that I pay for the real deal and TOMS are one of these things. The first pair I purchased was back before nursing started I mentioned it in this post {here}, the second I purchased last spring {here}, and now I'm itching to get my next pair. Mostly because my white pair I had to buy for nursing school are completely warn out and I actually replaced those with new Nike tennis shoes to give me better support throughout the time on the floor. Actually my other TOMS were almost nearly destroyed after Soundset music festival last summer when it spent 10+ hours standing in mud and hot sun where by the time summer finished there was a hole warn in the seam. Well...the real reason for this post is because now I have to choose a pair to buy; too many choices!

Pair 1: Grey Suede Women's Cordones {$79.00}

{here}

Pair 2: Platinum Metallic Linen Women's Classics {$58.00}

{here}

Pair 3: Earthwise Grey Women's Vegan Classics {$54.00}

{here}

Pair 4: Navy Umbrella Stripe Women's Classics {$54.00}

{here}

I'm leaning to one of the first three because they are the most different for what I already purchased in the past, however I really like the pattern of number four. It'll be a while before I make a purchase because I need to get a pay check first! What TOMS do you like?

Movie Night.

moi. insta. pic.

So for the past two nights I have taken the liberty to relax and take advantage of the lull that has been for the past 24 hours. I know it won't be long before the list of to-do's changes finish-now's, and sleep will once again become a luxury. But, until then, I will enjoy this moment.

There are certain movies in my life that I just love, and can't pass up, it's almost as if it is a familiar comfort food that just makes everything better. My list isn't long but here's a few I will watch forevermore, and even if if I had a horrible-no-good-very-bad-day will make me relax.

1. The Parent Trap - "new" one, yes Lindsay Lohan
2. Bourne Identity
3. Bourne Supremacy
4. Bourne Ultimatum
5. Love Actually
6. How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days
7. The Sound of Music (1965) {later add-on...can't believe I forgot this one!}

None of these movies remind me of any person, so it's almost like they belong to me. No one can ruin them for me, I know how it begins, ends, and finishes. If I flip to it on T.V. I can start at whatever part its on. Not because they're the best movies I have ever seen, it's simply just because I like 'em for no other reason.

When I saw Emily's {post} it pushed me to do one of my own.
What are your fave movies?

If I could find someone that loves getting mail as much as I do, it might be a match made in heaven.

I love writing.
I love sending mail. I love receiving mail.
My favorite mail to send are birthday cards// packages & thank you notes {thanks for teaching me mom}
It annoys me {secretly// or now not so secretly} when I've received the same card, or gotten the same stationary sent to me twice {because for some reason I remember things like that};
I try my hardest not to send people things in the mail on a stationary set they've already received {yes I collect stationary// I also use it}.

Truth be told the people that receive the most mail from me are my parents, grandparents, my cousin. Super exciting I know...and they probably REALLY don't care what I send to them or what it looks like.

But I do.

I notice the little things, I remember the little things, they stick to me.
So if you've received mail from me, you can be assured I thought about the card I chose to send you and the words that were written, well & that I love you.

Bachelorette Finale 2012 [Emily & Jef & Ricky live happily ever after...]

Well I have been on the fence about this season, after the craziness that Emily had with Brad Womak {which I watched every episode of...} So watching Emily with other men and everything just how she was on the Bachelor was a little difficult to be honest at first....ANYWAYS (yes that's my personal bias/ problem)...season finale yesterday night she chose Jef (with 1 "f") everyone is happy, and Emily is happy. Actually, I was a fan of the 3rd runner up personally...but then when it boiled down to Jef and Arie; in my opinion Jef was a more wholesome guy and Arie was more of the physical attraction. As for the history of the series it seems to me the bachelors/ bachelorettes usually in my opinion choose the physical attraction over wholesome choice so I give credit to Emily....and as we now can see very rarely does that work out. So maybe they're the next couple that is a success story of the show?...I hope so, after the 3-hour season finale I do like 'em, they've won my heart.

And mostly for this detail....{the video clip from the Interview they had this morning on Good Morning America}:

  2012 Presidential Election

  Entertainment & Celebrity News

If you've noticed.... the journalists states something along the lines of, "so you're going to move in together in North Carolina?!"....and then Jef responds, "Yes, I am going to move to Charlotte, however I will live in my own place until we get married and move in together"

WOOHOO! Yay for that.

Call me old fashioned but I will wait until I get married to move in with a man; and back in my general psychology class statistics prove that you'll have a better outcome (lower percent of divorce!)

That is all for now.

As you may or may not have noticed my "blogroll" on the right side of my blog, but one of my favorite blogs to follow is Cupcakes and Cashmere {here} and she was featured on The Today Show {here}.

Last week she did a wonderful week of photos and reflections from her wedding last month and it was just beautiful. So if you are a bit of a girly girl, and enjoy fashion and beauty blogs she might be for you!

Above is a sneak photo from her blog of her new book coming out!

Retail Therapy {Shoes!}

Guilty! I spent a fair chunk of change...though I really did need shoes. I was wearing the same shoes everyday of the week, and lets just say the sole of the shoes were basically gone.

So this is what I ended up with...
I finally was able to throw away my other rain boots that had a HUGE hole in them...(purchased size 7)
These are really bright pink in real life! (Purchased size 6.5)
These replaced my old & only pair of shoes of which the sole was wearing through...(purchased size 5.0)
Now as you can see...good thing I tried all these shoes on because not one is the same size!
So this was my splurge of the weekend, now I'll go back to being socially isolated and nursing student once again....

Disclaimer [If you don't watch or appreciate reality tv...you won't be interested..]

Total Guilty Pleasure that got me to survive my first day of front-loading week....
Bethenny Ever After - Season 3

Note: the views expressed on her show do not express everything I believe, I just appreciate her personality and up-front way of living life.

I have a true appreciation for this woman, and this show saved my 9 hour academic day! {Welcome to 3500!}

I suppose people have their opinions, but I like her openness and personality, who knows if its genuine in the way it's portrayed on tv, but even so I will enjoy the life that she holds on television and let her have her private life to herself. {I'm rooting for her marriage and family, they all need each other!}

In case anyone is confused about nursing student lingo -
front loading week
A week that nursing faculty just want to see what we're really made of. It's the first week of a course where we have class M/W/F from 8am - 5pm with a lunch break, and T/TH - patho as usual. It's a long day to stay focused and on-task for that long. The hardest part; going back to your room and doing the homework and studying to be prepared for the following day.

This weeks check list:
- Complete Patho prep
- Patho Quiz
- Pass Med-calc exam
- Finish clinical prep
- Survive!!
- & still learn something and have a {little} fun

15 November 2011

I love Tuesday Nights...

Because I really love Zooey Deschanel, and New Girl is my new favorite show {visit; you'll love it too!}

Off to bed soon, early rise tomorrow. Clinical Starts at 5:50am tomorrow and I need to eat, I learned from my mistake last week. So 4:45am...kinda early I guess. Shower, Eat, make coffee, leave...plan of attack!

02 October 2011

This was the type of weekend I needed before swimming starts, family, friends, shopping, Meiko, sunshine...
Tomorrow starts a whole new level of crazy ~ Let's see how I do this thing :)

04 August 2011

I just want to go shopping! {unfortunately the budget doesn't permit}

Until I have some extra cash I will be "window" shopping online and finding pretty things, and then I'll be less likely to purchase a new item out of guilty pleasure.

I saw this today on one of the blogs I follow {here} and I absolutely ADORE this outfit from head to toe, sun glasses and flats. LOVE IT!

These sadly I'll probably never own...only in Japan {see here} Anyone out there have super sweet hook-ups in Japan!?

Not quite sure where these are from...but I love them & would like a pair :)

I'm not always enthused with the idea of going back to school, getting back in the grind of studying, working, swimming, everyday; day in and day out. But after this summer I think I have found a new appreciation for the mundane and sometimes stressful environment of school. Now only if I would have went to school in California where I could have the weather I love too....oh well! I do love Minneapolis and Minnesota so I'll enjoy the summer while it lasts.

For all the hopeless romantics out there...

I was reading this article on Yahoo, which is turning into quite an embarrassing habit, I mean why can't I get my "news" from a better source right? But today I ran across this article {here} about this guy who created this short, short film that was solely shot from his cell phone video camera. It entitled, "Splitscreen: A Love Story" so like I said...for all the hopeless romantics out there it's for you. But I did find it quite interesting that they traveled to different places to make this movie with inexpensive equipment, though it was definitely worth it since he won. But as a disclaimer the article on yahoo does share that it's not his first gig with filming so that probably helps. You can also follow this {link} to watch other short clips about making of the movie on vimeo.

For all my other fellow Minneapolis friends, I hope everyone is staying cool in this steamy 100 degree weather! I can't say that I mind teaching lessons inside instead of working at my outdoor pool on Thursday...though it's not supposed to cool off anytime soon, so I'll be dealing with it tomorrow and Saturday! I guess I can't complain too much, I really am happy to be hot rather than cold!

23 June 2011

High of 62; Current Temperature 59

Normally 62 degrees isn't awful, it isn't the best but after winter 62 degrees in Minnesota seems warm. 62 degrees can also signify winter coming and so in the fall of September it's accepted after a long hot summer. BUT, 62 degrees really is an all-time low when it's the end of June leading into July and all we really want is it to be 80 degrees, clear skies, and a touch of sunshine. I try my best not to complain, but seriously all I want to do is curl up in bed and sleep all day and night until the sun decides to come out...which with tomorrow's forecast hopefully means at sunrise. With this being said, things I did on my not-so-sunny day off to make the best of it...

Because of the circumstances....             I did this instead....
I couldn't lay outside and get a tan             I went to the tanning place to get some 'sun'
chose not to do my own nails                      I treated myself to a well-deserved pedicure after a long week
Get any hours at work (water park)           I am updating my blog of my woes...I really need to lighten up!

We'll see what the rest of the day holds, it can only get better from here, right?! I suppose the weekend is looking good weather wise so hopefully that will make me in a better mood.

Guilty Pleasures {television}

The Real Housewives of New York City - Season 4 {Bravo TV}

I think there are days that everyone wants to sit back and just do something, watch something, listen to music that allows them to think about nothing. Growing up I was raised in a house that had one television without cable, so when it came to television my knowledge of pop culture was quite limited. Who would have known that going to college would open my eyes to cable, for better or worse. One show that is truly a guilty pleasure of mine is watching The Real Housewives of New York City, my good friend introduced me to the show in high school during our lunch break and now I am able to enjoy it once again when I need a break in the studying on Thursday nights. I am so excited that a week from today, Thursday's beginning on April 7th; Season 4 is airing on Bravo TV 10/9c!
